Virtual Reality in Aid of 3D Echocardiography

Using an immersive virtual reality system can aid in the interpretation of three dimensional echocardiographic datasets. Two studies undertaken at the Erasmus MC show that investigating this type of data in a virtual environment that allows the users to perceive depth and interact with the volume rendered data in an intuitive manner, improves the understanding of anatomical structures such as heart valves.
