V-Scope | Desktop 3D display configuration |
|
With V-Scope on a single 3D display configuration (desktop model), the user works with both hands inside a stereoscopic virtual workspace. This is achieved by using a 3D autostereoscopic Display in front of the user. The big advantage of this display is that it is used without any viewing aids like 3D glasses.
The user sees the “floating” 3D data in front of the display and is able, due to the tracking system, to interact real time with this 3D model.
One hand lays on a ergonomically shaped 3D mouse which is used for rotation and translation of the model while the other hand holds a pen-shaped instrument, to perform detailed data manipulations like cutting and measuring. This single display configuration system has been adapted to ergonomic requirements.
The system we propose has most of the benefits of the fully immersive system, at a fraction of the cost. It is supllied with a 6 DOF tracking system and a 3D mouse. One hand lays on a ergonomically shaped 3D mouse which is used for rotation and translation of the model while the other hand holds a pen-shaped instrument, to perform detailed data manipulations like cutting and measuring. This single screen configuration system has been adapted to ergonomic requirements.
