V-Scope | The I-Space configuration
This configuration is a so called four-walled CAVE™-like VR system. In this multi-user system the users are surrounded by the stereo images, which are projected by 8 high quality DLP-projectors on three walls and the floor of the projection room. This results in an animated hologram of the dataset being visualised, floating in space in front of the viewers.

The viewers wear a pair of lightweight glasses with circulair polarising lenses that allows seeing the hologram with depth. The wireless 6 degrees-of-freedom joystick which emits a virtual pointer is used for manipulation of and interaction with this hologram.

A cutting plane attached to the pointer allows the user to measure and cut the 3D model. All tools and functions can be controlled with this wireless joystick.

This configuration is a perfect multidisciplinary solution, where e.g. diagnosticians and researchers can interact and discuss a patients-dataset and plan an operation.

The 3D effect is obtained using the so called passive stereo method: Two projectors per projection surface are used, with circular polarizing filters. The observers wear lightweight
“sunglasses” with polarizing lenses, which have the effect that each eye only sees the images of one set of projectors, resulting in depth perception.
